Murder of newspaper agent: 3 held

Thiruvananthapuram: The Rural police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a newspaper agent in Parassala on February 28.

The victim, Radhakrishnan, 46, was bludgeoned to death around 3.30 a.m. when he set out from home on his bicycle to distribute the days newspapers.

Circle Inspector, Parassala, N. Jeeji said the police arrested Radhakrishnans neighbour Nagamani and his sons Retnakaran and Vijayan in connection with the murder.

Last week, Radhakrishnan had a fight with his neighbour over the felling of a disputed tree on the fringe of his property. Nagamani was injured in the fight and subsequently hospitalised. The police booked Radhakrishnan on the charge of simple assault.

Mr. Jeeji said Nagamani and his sons conspired Radhakrishnans murder.

According to the police, Vijayan ambushed Radhakrishnan and hit him on the head with an iron spike designed for de-husking coconuts. Radhakrishnan, who sustained a fatal head injury, died at the hospital the same day.
