Put cooperative funds to proper use: Sudhakaran

KANNUR: Funds mobilised by the co-operative sector should be deployed in diverse sectors including education and agriculture, Minister for Co-operation G. Sudhakaran has said.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for Raidco Tower, the headquarters of Regional Agro Industrial Development Co-operative of Kerala Ltd., (Raidco) here on Monday.

Raidco, started with the aim of strengthening agricultural engineering activities in the State, should take up new projects for modernising agriculture, he said.

Disclosing that the co-operative sector in the State had disbursed Rs.55,000 crore as loans last year, Mr. Sudhakaran said the sector was now playing a role in professional education. Over 16,000 students were now studying in professional colleges under the co-operative sector, he said.
