Caravel launches cellular container vessel

: Caravel Logistics, a Chennai-based multi modal transportation company, has launched its first cellular container vessel here on Thursday.





M V Caravel Pride with a 585 TEU capacity is capable of transporting varied goods that can be containerised.



This include refrigerated containers, over sized cargo that could be carried on special containers.



Addressing mediapersons here, Saju Chacko, managing director of the company, said that the vessel was acquired at a cost of Rs 25 crore through a private equity by BTS Investments, Switzerland.



The company expects to enhance its revenue by Rs 40 crore through the new venture.



The vessel was built at the Fosen Mekaniskw Verksreder Shipyard in Sweden.



It has a fixed day schedule that would help customers preplan their shipments with certainty of cargo movement.



Saju pointed out that the new venture was a step in the right direction towards the vision of becoming a holistic logistic company providing best service.



With the international cargo freight volume increasing by 20 percent a year, a boost in Caravel�s topline is expected.
