Thilakan expelled from AMMA in continuing stalemate

KOCHI: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has formally severed its links with Thilakan, actor. His lifelong membership of the association was revoked after he appeared before its executive committee meeting here on Monday.

The veteran actor presented his case for nearly an hour at the meeting, attended by 14 members of the executive committee.

However, the committee expressed dissatisfaction over the reply made by Mr. Thilakan on issues of indiscipline and public statements made against the organisation.

Mr. Thilakan refused to apologise for the comments and criticism that he made about AMMA in public.

Following this, the organisation took the decision to expel him.
