Tribal people encroach upon 8-acre plot

KALPETTA: As many as 50 tribal families under the aegis of the Adivasi Kshema Samithi (AKS), an organisation affiliated to the CPI(M), encroached upon an 8-acre plot at Chembilode Valiyakunnu, near Mananthavady, in Edavaka grama panchayat at 9.30 on Monday.

This is the latest in a series of encroachments by the tribal people in Wayanad under the aegis of the AKS. The encroachers set up huts there and the exercise was inaugurated by CPI(M) district committee secretary C.K. Saseendran. He told The Hindu that the agitation would be intensified.
