KUMALY: The three taluks�Devikulam, Udumbanchola and Peerumede�in the Idukki district of Kerala have been under the secret scanner of Tamil Nadu to facilitate the appension of the three to Tamil Nadu, highly placed sources say.
The Tamil supporters are eying to allure Malayalis in the taluks which houses about 60 percent of Tamilians so as to compel them to raise the demand to merge the taluks with Tamil Nadu. Through this move, Tamil Nadu is also trying to own Mullaperiyar Dam (located in Peerumede), which is believed to be prime objective of them.
To realize their conspiracy, the Tamil backers offer Malayalis a long striking list that includes providing 20 kg of rice for one rupee, 35 kg rice for Scheduled Tribes, free electricity for agricultural purposes to farmers, irrigation facilities, cheap loan conditions, free medical treatment up to Rs 2 lakhs for the poor having severe diseases, pregnancy allowance of Rs 10000, marriage help of Rs 25000, free LPG connection and colour television, central governments salary for government employees, reduced bus fare (28 paise per kilometer), free journey for students, free bicycles to students up to 12th standard and so on. The �allure list contains about 22 items.
