THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Southern Railway has announced change in train services on August 12, 15, 16, 18 and 19 in view of the commissioning of the double line between Coimbatore North and Irugur.
Some trains that originate or terminate at the Coimbatore railway station will run via Coimbatore-Podanur-Irugur instead of Coimbatore-Pilamedu-Irugur. These trains (with dates) are as follows: 2676 Coimbatore-Chennai Kovai Express (August 12), 2675 Chennai-Coimbatore Kovai Express, 2676 Coimbatore-Chennai Kovai Express, 2647 Coimbatore-Nizamuddin Kongu Express, 6610 Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express, 2672 Mettupalayam-Chennai Nilagiri Express and 2674 Coimbatore-Chennai Cheran Express (all on August 15), 2680 Coimbatore-Chennai Intercity Express, 2084 Coimbatore-Mayiladuthurai Jan Shatabdi Express, 1014 Coimbatore-Lokamanya Tilak Terminus Express, 2676 Coimbatore-Chennai Kovai Express, 6610 Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express, 2672 Mettupalayam-Chennai Nilagiri Express, 2674 Coimbatore-Chennai Cheran Express (all on August 16), and 2675 Chennai-Coimbatore Kovai Express, 2676 Coimbatore-Chennai Kovai Express (August 18).
Southern Railway said some of the trains passing through Coimbatore will run via Podanur-Irugur without touching Coimbatore. However, Railways have given a stoppage to these trains at Podanur, instead of Coimbatore junction.
