Kudumbasree anniversary fete begins tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 5,0000 women are expected to participate in the 12 {+t} {+h} anniversary celebrations of the Kudumbasree poverty alleviation mission in the city beginning July 12.

The City Corporation has made elaborate arrangements for the four-day celebrations.

As many as 2,000 neighbourhood groups will join the celebrations.

The event will take off on Monday morning with sports competitions at the Central Stadium.

An exhibition and sale of products manufactured by various Kudumbasree units will be held at Torch Tower building at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium.

As seminar on �Status of women will be held in the Public Library hall on July 15, followed by a cultural programme.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate a family get-together of 50,000 women members of Kudumbasree at 3.30 p.m. on Thursday.

Ministers T.M. Thomas Isaac, Paloli Mohammed Kutty, M. Vijayakumar and C. Divakaran; Mayor C. Jayan Babu; MLAs; and Kudumbasree officials; are expected to participate.
