Bodies recovered

KOZHENCHERRY: The bodies of two youths, who were missing after they went for a bath last evening at the Pampa river, were recovered on Monday. They have been identified as Shins (21) and Bijoy (22).

Vaishak and Savithri Rajeev bag Kamala Surayya Puraskaram

THRISSUR: Vaishak and Savithri Rajeev bagged this years Kamala Surayya Puraskaram instituted by the Trust in the poetess� name.

Vaishak bagged the award for his story Silencer and Savithri for her collection of poems named Kavithakal.

The award was announced by noted critic and orator Dr Sukumar Azhikode.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a citation. The award would be presented on March 31 at a function held at the Sahitya Akademy.

Ernakulam District Co-operative Bank wins award

KOCHI:The Ernakulam District Co-operative Bank Limited, has won the Banking Frontiers national award instituted for the best District cooperative bank, for its impressive performance during the last fiscal.

The bank was chosen for the award for its attractive deposit schemes, new loan schemes and also for the fruitful utilisation of the new technology, a bank release said.

The cooperative bank was targetting a business turnover of Rs 3,600 crore during this fiscal, the release said.
