Sasthra University wins innovation contest

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thanjavur-based Sasthra University bagged the top honours at the TechTop national innovation contest here on Saturday, winning the first prize comprising the Degree C Award of Rs.1,00,000 for a project on �production of nano-carbon sheets from the exhaust pipes in industries.

The second prize comprising Rs.50,000, sponsored by the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), went to the Jaipur Engineering College for its �universal mobile automation system project and the third prize of Rs.30,000, sponsored by the Kerala State Council of Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), was given to the Cape Institute of Technology, Tirunelveli, for a project on �The Dark NET � an initiative to furnish remote areas with internet facility. Chief Secretary P. Prabhakaran gave away the prizes at the valedictory function held at Technopark.
