Seats for women: KSRTC to study Lok Adalat order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Sate Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is to take a decision on a directive of the Permanent Lok Adalat, a judicial forum constituted to settle disputes relating to public utility services, to earmark 25 per cent of the seats in buses for women after studying the order.

We have not received the order. We have read about it in the newspapers. A decision will be taken after studying the order, the legal issues and other factors involved like profitability of the services, Chairman and Managing Director of the KSRTC S. Rajasekharan Nair said.

The judicial forum headed by A. Dennison on Friday ordered the KSRTC to reserve the front door of two-door buses for the exclusive use of women.
