Veteran journalist dead

KOCHI: K.P. Krishnanunny, veteran journalist, died here on Saturday. He was 92.

Mr. Krishnanunny is survived by his son, Anil Kumar, and two daughters. He was ailing for the past few days.

Mr. Krishnanunny had worked as a legal correspondent of The Hindu in Kochi and also wrote a column named �Cochin in Focus from 1984 to 1990. His High Court reportage was wide ranging and authentic, looked forward to by the readers and appreciated by the higher echelons of the judiciary and discerning legal fraternity.

Affectionately called KPK, Mr. Krishnanunni started his journalistic career with Reuters in Colombo on July 3, 1942 during the Second World War and continued there for six years.

He joined the Press Trust of India (PTI) on February 1, 1949 on his return from Colombo. He had also served as Bureau head of PTI, Thiruvananthapuram, for a brief period.
