The acceptance of the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) in India is growing 40 to 50 per cent a year, says Ian Chambers, Regional Manager (South Asia) of CIE. CIE is a provider of international qualifications for 14-19 year olds.
It is part of the Cambridge assessment, a not-for-profit organisation and a department of the University of Cambridge.
In an interview to The Hindu, Mr. Chambers said Indian students were performing well compared with the global average.
“Indians outperform others. Nearly 38 per cent of students here achieve A star and A grades compared to the world average of 32 per cent,” he said. Mr. Chambers said that CIE has long recognised that a ‘one-size-fits-all' approach is not appropriate in international education. Therefore, Cambridge offers a range of qualifications and programmes for students aged five to 19. These include Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge O Level, Cambridge International A and AS Level, and the new Cambridge International Primary programme.
