Magic to the aid of Bharathapuzha

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Department of Forests and Magic Academy will jointly organise a special magic show on the banks of the Bharathapuzha near Ottappalam on March 13 to create environmental awareness. Titled Nilackai, it will be prelude to a series of shows to be held in the districts from August 1 to 14 in connection with the International Biodiversity Year.

Forest Minister Benoy Viswom and magician Gopinath Muthukad of the Academy told the media here on Tuesday that Nilackai would be based on the poem Bhoomikkoru Charamageetham, written as an elegy for dying Earth by O.N.V. Kurup. It would draw attention to the dismal state of Bharathapuzha which once had plenty of water.

They said that shows would be held in August at two venues in each district
