THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The power supply restrictions currently on in the northern districts of Kasragod, Kannur and Kozhikode are likely to continue to May 14.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) said on Wednesday that the restrictions were necessitated by the toppling of a tower carrying the 220 kV line bringing electricity to Kerala from Karnataka a few days ago. The tower, located at Kadakola in Karnataka, was being set aright by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation.
The KSEB said its installations in different parts of the State were damaged in thundershowers during April.
In a press release on Tuesday, the KSEB said power transmission sector alone suffered losses to the tune of Rs.3 crore. As many as 720 posts carrying 11 kV lines and 3,425 posts carrying distribution lines fell in the gale accompanying the thundershowers and 41 transformers were hit by lightning.
