Touch-screen facility at varsity

Thiruvananthapuram: It is an ordeal for students visiting the Senate House campus of Kerala University to gather information on courses and examinations. They have to stand in long queues, jostle with others and strain hard to catch the attention of the official manning the counter.

But now all that will be a thing of the past. Thanks to a major modernisation of the public relations section, getting information on university courses and exams is as simple as a touch.

The building housing the public relations section on the campus has been equipped with a touch screen facility for easy access to information without hassles. Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran inaugurated the new facility at a function on Thursday.

The university has installed two touch screen kiosks. The kiosks and the wireless link have been provided free by the Kerala State IT Mission with technical support by Keltron. The screens can be used to get information on examination dates, results, notifications, , approved colleges and courses and fees.
