Seafood exports rise in Kerala

Kochi, May 21 (ANI): Seafood exports from Kerala have crossed the two billion dollar mark.

We are happy to say that we have crossed the two billion US dollar mark, said Leena Nair, Chairperson of Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) Frozen shrimp accounted for 41.74 per cent of earnings.

Fish, has retained its position as the principal export item in quantity terms and the second largest export item in value terms. It accounted for a share of about 38.37 per cent in quantity and 20.09 per cent in US dollar earnings.

Exports aggregated to 663603 tonnes valued at Rs. 9921.46 crore and 2105.60 million dollars.
