Subsidised surgery for senior citizens planned

KOTTAYAM: Taking a cue from the success of the Thalolam Scheme wherein free open heart surgeries were performed on those below 18 years of age, the government was seriously thinking of bringing in a new scheme for performing subsidised free surgery for senior citizens, said the Health Minister P. K. Sreemathy.

She said the scheme envisages to extend up to Rs.70,000 for surgery. She was commissioning the Hindlabs MRI Scan Centre at Kottayam Government Medical College here on Monday.
