KOLLAM: Poonthura Siraj, working chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Wednesday said party chairman Abdul Nasir Maudany and his family were being harassed though no government agency had any evidence against them.
Talking to the media, Mr. Siraj said Mr. Maudany and the PDP were too willing to cooperate with the Bangalore police on investigation into the Bangalore serial blasts. Though the Bangalore police had served notice to Soofiya Maudany to appear before them, she was unable to go because of a court directive that she should not leave Ernakulam district.
She was now unable to visit her ailing mother who lived in another district. Mr. Maudany could not go to Bangalore because of health problems.
He said the PDP would organise a human rights conference in Ernakulam on March 15. Leading human rights activists will be addressing the conference. The party would organise a womens conference there on April 12.
The district conferences of the PDP would be held between April 5 and May 30.
