Thrissur: Public health activist, neurosurgeon and former Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University B. Ekbal has called for strengthening public sector pharmaceutical companies to check commercialisation of health sector.
He was delivering the keynote address at a seminar on �Dirty tricks in drug sales organised by the Janata Pharmacy here on Sunday. �Doctors should stop prescribing drugs under the alleged influence of pharmaceutical companies. Patients mostly do not know whether they are prescribed the right drugs. But they have no choice but to follow the advice of doctors, he said.
