Thiruvananthapuram: The sprawling campus of the Malabar Botanical Garden at Olavanna in Kozhikode district is set to become a magnet for nature lovers. The garden society has drawn up an ambitious project for conservation and exhibition of aquatic plants.
R. Prakash Kumar, Principal Scientific Officer, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, who is in charge of the Malabar Botanical Garden Society, said efforts were on to set up a national-level conservatory of aquatic plants.
He said the Kozhikode City Corporation had prepared a Rs.8-crore project to establish a National Wetland Conservatory in 15 acres of paddy land within the 40 acre premises.
