KOLLAM: Education Minister M.A. Baby has called for a change in attitude and approach in the State towards education. He was inaugurating the three-day State-level Vocational Expo 2010 at the Government Model Boys High School complex here on Monday.
He said there was a lack of interest on the part of youngsters to take up labour-intensive work. It is difficult now-a-days even to get someone to repair a TV set. Youngsters prefer not to take up such work. But when it comes to an inevitable situation the youngsters are ready to go out of the State and even the country to take up any kind of work.
Mr. Baby said the vocational education sector needed to be scientifically redesigned. While attempts in this connection were being made, there were a couple of problems. The main one being lack of proper infrastructure to provide quality education. Then there was lack of proper employment opportunities for those passing out, he added.
