Madhavikutty ploughed a lonely furrow: Zacharia

Kochi: Writer Zacharia has said that the late writer Madhavikutty, who later became Kamala Suraiya, was an ottayal [which roughly translates into maverick] in life and writing.

In totality, her personality was set apart by unflinching modernity, democratic consciousness, humanism and secularism with which she waged a lonesome battle against Keralas conservative hypocrisy, said Mr. Zacharia, while delivering the Kamala Suraiya memorial speech on her 76 {+t} {+h} birthday as part of a Snehasamgamam organised by DC Books at the basement of the late writers apartment.
