Pooram ends on a grand note

MALAPPURAM: The 11-day festival of Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathi Temple at Angadipuram concluded on Friday. Thousands of Bhagavathi devotees from different parts of the State visited the temple during the festival days.

A huge turnout witnessed the finale on Friday evening. A procession was taken out from the Muthuvar temple to the Tali temple at Angadipuram. The last day of the Pooram was called Janakeeya Pooram.

A double Thayambaka performance by Kalloor Ramankutty Marar and Porur Unnikrishnan and a Panchamaddalakeli performance by Kalamandalam Narayanan Nambeesan and others were held. Thousands of people lined up the route as the Bhagavathi idol was taken out of the sanctum sanctorum on a caparisoned elephant for the final holy bath (Arat) on Friday night. The final procession called Kottiyirakkam marked the 21st Arat of the Bhagavathi
