Nafed sees a market in tapping Gulf, Europe expats

TPURAM: The largest farmers co-operative in the country, National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (Nafed), is eyeing a new business opportunity abroad, in the form of the large numbers of Indian expatriates in the Gulf countries and Europe.

Nafed feels that food products from India that are preferred by the expatriate community there, would be a boon for the expatriates and an opportunity for Nafed.

In the Gulf region, Nafed will focus on Kerala-specific food products, considering the large number of expatriates from the state there. Officials said the first consignments were expected to be shipped within two months.
