KSEB may hike power surcharge

TPURAM: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to approach the Electricity Regulatory Commission to report its Rs 105 crore debt formed by buying power from last October to December. Hence, it is almost certain that KSEB may recommend hiking power surcharge across the State.

The Commission had announced a new condition that the Board should submit its recommendation once in every three months with records on the expenses of buying power by taking into account the price of fuels. According to this condition, the Board has reckoned its expenses from October to December.

The Board is mulling to compensate its indebtedness from the consumers by increasing the surcharge
