Need to modernise air bases stressed: PV Naik

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Air Chief Marshal PV Naik today said air bases in the country has to be modernised with state-of-the-art equipment to meet any contingency which might arise.

Commanders should keep strict vigil and maintain operational preparedness of the highest order at all times, Naik said at the annual SAC commanders conference, which concluded at the headquarters of Southern Air Command in Thiruvananthapuram.

The two-day conference deliberated on issues such as security threats, defence preparedness and coastline security.

Air Marshal Sumit Mukerji, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Air Command also addressed the commanders of various units under SAC on the occasion.
