All party meet stops land acquisition for National Highway

TPURAM: The Kerala government has decided in an all party meet convened here that it has halted land acquisition for national highway.

Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said about 30 metre width would be sufficient for the development of national highway. Representatives of all parties will leave for New Delhi for recommendation soon.

The width of national highways of other states is 60 metres. Following Kerala�s plea it was altered to 45 metres. Even then there arouse public rage against acquiring land. It was on this circumstance that the all party meeting was convened.
