AIR to celebrate 60th anniversary from Friday

ALAPPUZHA: The 60th anniversary celebrations of the All India Radio (AIR) will begin here on April 23 and continue with a �Farm Fest till April 25.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, AIR Alappuzha Station director K.M. Muralidharan said Governor R.S. Gavai would inaugurate the celebrations at the DBHS Grounds in Cheriyanadu near Chengannur at 5 p.m. on Friday. Chengannur MLA P.C. Vishnunath would preside over the function, which would also have Union Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas launching the �Farm Fest�. G. Jayalal, Deputy Director General, AIR, Thiruvananthapuram, would deliver the keynote address.

On Saturday, Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy would inaugurate �Anyonyam�, an agriculture seminar, which would have NABARD chief general manager K.C. Shashidhar delivering the keynote address. On Sunday, a festival themed on the Onattukara region, �Paithrukam�, would be held and be followed by an interaction with State award-winning farmers
