Activists pledge support to stir

KOLLAM: The indefinite relay satyagraha organised by the Sasthamcotta Lake Protection Action Council demanding measures by the government to conserve the fast shrinking Sasthamcotta Lake entered the 12th day on Wednesday.

Expressing solidarity with the action council, members of the Paristithi Samrakshana Ekopana Samthi joined the satyagraha on the banks of the lake on Wednesday.

Inaugurating a meeting in this connection, Narmada Bachao Andolan activist and convener of the CPI State-level sub-committee on environment P. Prasad called for the immediate ban of clay and sand mining in West Kallada, which borders the lake. He said environment protection should be included as a main agenda of all political parties.
