Kerala ministers swing into action as crisis deepens in Malayalam film industry

HIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting of the feuding groups of Malayalam film industry convened by the state government Sunday failed to resolve the crisis erupted after a ban on stars appearing on television shows and suspension of new projects.

We have agreed to constitute a high-level panel to look into the problem and suggest remedies. Well be meeting again on May 12 and we hope to bring the house in order by the end of this month, Culture Minister MA Baby told reporters after the meeting in Kottayam.

Representatives of Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), the apex body of producers, distributors and exhibitors, and Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), representing those behind the camera, attended the meeting besides Industry Minister Elamaram Kareem.
