State to be made disaster-resilient

Thiruvananthapuram: Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran said here on Monday that the government was launching an action plan to make the State fully disaster-resilient.

Presiding over the inaugural function of a consultation workshop on disaster management, he said the 53 municipalities, five corporations and 978 panchayats in Kerala were expected to be declared disaster-resilient in time for the UN International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction on October 13 this year.

He said the National Disaster Management Authority and the State Disaster Management Authority would assist the local bodies in implementing the programme titled �My City, My Village is fully disaster resilient.
