Building permits: order to avoid delay

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has asked the city corporations and the municipalities to take steps to avoid delays and issue building permits within the fixed time limit.

In a circular issued here on Wednesday, the government asked the urban local bodies to make special arrangements for taking decisions on applications for building permits without any delay, issuing the permits and taking follow-up action.

The circular wanted all technical staff up to the level of Overseer Grade II of the engineering and town planning wings to be given duties connected with construction and implementation of the Building Rules. The Secretaries should delegate their powers. The applications should be forwarded to the officials in charge of various areas in the same priority in which they were submitted.
