Accused in theft cases nabbed

KANNUR: A 23-year-old youth accused in nearly 90 cases of theft was arrested by the Town Police here on Saturday. The police recovered seven stolen motorcycles and an autorickshaw from the youth, identified as K. Nayeemuddin, hailing from Pazhayangadi here.

The police said the accused was involved in several theft cases, including temple burglary and vehicle theft. He was arrested by a police team led by Circle Inspector of Police P.P. Sadanandan.

The police said he had stolen the vehicles that were recovered from him after his release from jail on February 2 last.

He was involved in cases of burglary in places of worship in different parts of the district and nearbly areas, they said.

According to the police, he had stolen the motorcycles from Payyannur, Thalassery, Vadakara, Pazhayangadi, Kannur town and Trikkarippu and the autorikshaw from Thavam here. He had served prison term for nearly six years in different theft cases, the police said.
