BJP threatens stir against SEC

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has threatened to launch an agitation against the State Election Commission (SEC) if it failed to rectify the lapses in the voters list for the upcoming local body elections.

Party spokesperson George Kurien told reporters here on Thursday that the list of delimited wards published by the commission was replete with mix-up, and the 15-day deadline set for clearing the mistakes was insufficient.

Mr. Kurien cited specific cases in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod districts and said the CPI(M) was trying to upset the elections in its favour by making the commission publish the list with errors.
