Three arrested on robbery charge

KOZHIKODE: A special crime squad of the city police nabbed three persons, including a woman, on the charge of robbing a lorry driver from Rajasthan.The squad arrested K.P. Abdul Majeed, 32; N.P. Ashraf, 33, who is an autorickshaw driver and E. Anisha alias Suhara, 29, for allegedly taking Rs.3,000 from the lorry driver, who had hired the autorickshaw from the railway station. The incident took place on Thursday.Ashraf and Majeed had offered to take the lorry driver to a sex worker near the mofussil bus station.Suhara got into the vehicle from the mofussil bus station. Then the accused took him to an isolated spot near the medical college and robbed him, the police said.The Town police charged the accused under Section 398 (attempt to commit robbery or dacoity when armed deadly weapons) of the Indian Penal Code.The accused were produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate�s Court and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days, the police said.
