Four-day dance festival in Kozhikode from tomorrow

KOZHIKODE: The four-day Soundarya Lahari 2010 dance festival, coorganised by the Information and Public Relations Department and the District Tourism Promotion Council, will henceforth be an annual festival with Kozhikode as its annual venue, PRD officials said at a press conference at the Calicut Press Club here on Friday. Mayor M. Bhaskaran will inaugurate the festival at the Gujarati Hall at 6 p.m. on Sunday.Kalamandalam Ramankutty Nair will be the chief guest.A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, will preside over the function, in which District Collector P.B. Salim and district panchayat president K.P. Kunhammedkutty will offer felicitations.The Samudra Performing Artists from Thiruvananthapuram will perform the �Cosmic Dance of Shiva\' on the day.A change from the earlier announced programme is that Anita Ratnam\'s troupe from Chennai will not perform on March 1, the second day of the fete. Instead, dancer and Padma Shree recipient Astab Deboo will perform a solo dance that will be a synthesis of various dance traditions
