NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Thursday directed the Attorney General to present the Kerala Governors argument regarding granting sanction to prosecute Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI (M) Kerala secretary in SNC Lavalin case.
The court was hearing a plea submitted by Vijayan pleading a stay on the Governors order and squashing of the charge sheet filed by the CBI. The apex court observed that it would be appropriate for the AG to represent the Governor since another advocate cannot be deputed in his presence.
The AG in turn informed the court his inability to represent both the Governor and the CBI in the case. He informed willingness to represent the Governor, if another counsel is appointed for CBI. The AG pointed out that presently he is representing the premier investigating agency regarding the plea by Vijayan, the seventh accused requesting squashing of the charge sheet
