KANNUR: A leopard which strayed into a residential locality near Azhikal beach here was trapped Friday by forest department personnel.
Acting on complaints from the locals about the movement of a wild animal, the forest officials traced the footprint marks of the man-eater and placed a cage with a bait in the area Thursday night and the leopard was trapped Friday morning, Forest Range officer M P Prabhakaran said.
A large number of people from various parts of the town gathered at the spot to have a glimpse of the caged leopard.
The animal would be released into the Muthanga Forests in neighbouring Wayanad district, he said
