THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 33,148 women harassment cases were registered since the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government assumed office, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.
In reply to questions in the Assembly on Friday, the Home Minister said that 273 women victims died in such incidents.
About 1,439 cases of miscreants waylaying women and snatching their gold ornaments have been reported during this period.
About 40,317 theft cases were registered. The loss of gold in these cases has been pegged at Rs.138 crore. Other articles worth Rs.149 crore were stolen.
