THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Income Tax (IT) Commissioner for Thiruvananthapuram S. Ravi has urged individual tax payers to take maximum benefit of the e-filing system the department is offering to them for filing their income tax returns.
At a press conference here on Friday, he said the facility offered on the departments link www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in would enable faster refunds.
There was also the convenience of doing the filing without coming to the Income Tax office and standing in the queue.
The last day prescribed for filing of individual income tax returns is July 31.
He said special counters would be open at the office of the department in the city at Kowdiar from July 28 to 31 during working hours to deal with the usual last minute rush in filing returns.
He requested tax payers to file the returns as early as possible to avoid the final rush.
He said his office had made special arrangements to bulk collect returns from the employees of major institutions such as Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and the Indian Railways.
