Workshops to be monitored

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have directed workshop owners in the district to record the make, type and ownership particulars of vehicles brought to their facilities for repair.

They said the move was aimed at preventing law breakers, including motorists involved in hit-and-run accidents, from covering their tracks after committing crimes, inadvertently or otherwise, using vehicles.

The police have also directed private medical practitioners and those running clinics and hospitals to promptly inform law enforcers the details of the persons treated for injuries, including the nature of their wounds, by filing the mandatory medico-legal intimation form at the local police station.

Investigators said persons involved in hit-and-run accidents and those who sustained injuries while committing crimes often got their wounds tended at single doctor clinics or infirmaries in remote areas.
