THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a move aimed at ensuring timely delivery of school textbooks in the coming academic year, the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has decided to bypass book depots and directly link school cooperative societies in the State with the Kerala Books and Publications Society (KBPS) - the main printing agency of school textbooks - for distribution and delivery of textbooks in government and aided schools.
The new system is expected to avoid delays and expenses involved in storing, loading and unloading books in the depots.
Unaided schools, however, will follow last years system where orders for textbooks should be placed online and the distribution will be made through the depots.
