PATHANAMTHITTA: The 64th Hindu religious meet, organised by the Travancore Hindu Dharma Parishad (THDP), got off to a traditional start on the sand-bed of the Pampa at Ranni on Sunday.
Swami Visveswara Thirtha, head of Pejawar Math in Udupi in Karnataka, inaugurated the week-long religious meet.
The former Union Minister O. Rajagopal presided over the inaugural function.
T.P. Sasikumar, scientist attached to Indian Space Research Organisation, was the guest of honour.
Kummanam Rajashekharan, Hindu Aikyavedi general secretary, P.S. Nair, Travancore Development Council chairman and P.N. Neelakantan Namboodiri, THDP president, also spoke.
The week-long religious convention will conclude on February 28.
