Thiruvananthapuram: �Kumbhaghoshayathra\' processions from different parts of South India converged on the city on Sunday, heralding the �Poojitha Peeddom Samarpanam-9 \' celebrations at the Santhigiri Ashram on Monday.
Revered tradition
The celebrations are held to highlight the importance of the �Guru-Sishya\' tradition in spirituality. It marks the spiritual attainment of Sishyapoojitha Amritha Jnana Thapaswini, present spiritual head of the Santhigiri Ashram and the foremost disciple of the Ashram\'s founder, Karunakara Guru. The Ashram\'s half-yearly Kumbhamela will be held on Monday.
The �Kumbhaghoshayathra\' processions � from Bangalore, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Sulthan Bathery, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kumili, Kallar, Kottayam and Palakkad � converged at the Gandhi Park, East Fort, on Sunday evening.
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies C. Divakaran, V. Sivankutty, MLA, former MP Varkala Radhakrishnan, BJP district president Karmana Jayan and a large number of ashram devotees were present on the occasion.
