KOCHI : The Self-financing Engineering College Managements Association has decided to go ahead with its own admission process irked at the government delay in finalising this years fee and seat-sharing pattern.
G.P.C. Nayar, president, said here on Monday that the association representatives were still open for discussions, if the government took the initiative immediately.
But there will be no compromise on the demand for fixing the annual fee at Rs.1.25 lakh for all the seats available in self-financing engineering colleges. The association has demanded that this fee will be applicable for the students being admitted under the government quota in self-financing colleges, he said.
Stating that the inordinate delay in finalising the admission and fee pattern would only result in seats remaining vacant in self-financing colleges, Mr. Nayar said that over 3,000 seats had remained vacant in self-financing colleges in the State last year following the delay in completing the admission procedure.
