Thiruvananthapuram: The City Corporation is preparing to launch a pre-monsoon cleaning drive and a mass campaign to create public awareness of vector control and prevention of epidemics.
Mayor C. Jayan Babu told a press conference here on Friday that the campaign, organised in association with the Department of Health, would focus on the Four Plus strategy to prevent dengue fever, chikungunya, malaria and leptospirosis. He said the thrust of the programme would be on ensuring public participation.
Vehicle rallies would be taken out in all the wards to drive home the message of sanitation and prevention of epidemics. Brochures would be distributed to all households and commercial establishments and slides will be exhibited at all cinema theatres.
Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran will inaugurate the vehicle rallies and awareness drive on May 27.
