KALPETTA: A team from the National Commission for Minorities has begun a 10-day tour of the district to monitor implementation of minority welfare schemes.
Santhanam Krishnamoorthy, member of the commission, collected evidence on Saturday from high-level officials. The commission will verify representation of minorities and protection of their rights after visiting various institutions and work sites.
Centres set up to train minorities free and public enterprises will be in the itinerary.
The commission will evaluate the functioning of the Indira Avas Yojana and verify data on the beneficiaries of welfare schemes and educational loans.
The visit will conclude on August 2.
