Onam Week events from August 22

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Onam Week Celebrations will be held at 16 venues in the city from August 22 to 28, Law Minister M. Vijayakumar has said.

Replying to questions in the Assembly on Wednesday, Mr. Vijayakumar, who was deputising for Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, said it had been proposed to hold classical music and dance events, �ganamela, �kathaprasangom, �kalaripayattu, various folk art events, etc during the week. Television channels and media houses will conduct stage shows as part of the celebrations. Trade fair and food festival will be organised. The Vellayambalam-LMS stretch will be declared as �festival zone. The week will conclude with a cultural pageantry.
