THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sobha Surendran, president of the Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha (BJMM) State unit, has demanded an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the alleged love jihad cases.
She told presspersons here on Saturday that nearly 5,000 girls had gone missing during the past five years.
They included terror recruits, those taken to Pakistan and those undergoing various types of harassment. The State Home Department had informed the Kerala High Court that love jihad was not taking place in Kerala. But CDs seized in raids conducted after the recent attack on a professor whose hand was chopped off had shown some girls taken to the red streets of Pakistan. The State police were maintaining silence on the issue.
She contended that love jihad was part of an organised recruitment process of terrorists.
Nearly 1,000 cases connected with it had been registered.
